BOSSES at Blackburn brewery Thwaites have pledged that the company’s shire horses will remain in the town.

Last week, the firm announced 60 job losses as it stepped up its plans to shut down the majority of its Penny Street site.

The move will leave the firm with just 13 brewing staff, the Lancashire Telegraph understands.

Where the firm will move to and what will become of the existing site is yet to be announced.

A spokeswoman said: “The horses are housed at a separate site in Eanam Wharf and they will not be affected by the restructure.”

Craft brewery Crafty Dan and the visitor centre will stay in Penny Street.
