VOLUNTEERS in Bacup who sold Remembrance Day poppies have been recognised for their efforts.
The runner-up certificate in the George Haffner Poppy Trophy has been awarded to the town for the second year running.
The awards recognise districts with the highest percentage increase in cash raised for the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal over the previous year.
Hazel Steen, area appeal organiser, said: “This is a tribute to all who donated, and to the small band of dedicated volunteers who distributed, and collected, the 190 boxes, and staffed street collections.”
