A DECISION on Burnley’s first free school is expected within weeks.
The ‘Christian ethos’ Burnley High School would open in September with an initial 90 places for 11-year-olds.
Chapel Street, the charity behind the venture, is yet to announce a site for the school.
Dr Russell Rook, chief executive officer at Chapel Street, said they hoped to hear from the Department for Education now the consultation had finished.
Dr Rook said: “We haven’t heard anyhting from the Department for Education yet on the progress with our application. However we hope to hear something within the next month or so.”
The school, which has a target capacity of 650 pupils, has earmarked a number of potential sites including the former Burnley High School for Girls in Kiddrow
