YOUNGSTERS met their idols when Clarets stars dropped in at a Burnley primary school to present new sports kits.

Strike duo Danny Ings and Sam Vokes, and right-back Kieran Trippier called in at Brunshaw Primary School in Morse Street to hand over the new strips.

Kevin Kay, PE teacher at the school, said: “The new kits look amazing. I am delighted that Oak Furniture Land agreed to purchase the new sports kits for our football, netball and cricket teams.

“We won many sporting titles last year and the new kits will be a real motivator as the children prepare to compete at local, county and national levels this year.”

The players proved popular when they attended Thursday’s assembly.

Danny Ings said: “It was great to hear of the schools’ sporting accomplishments and to meet the football team. Hopefully we will be seeing some of them playing for Burnley FC in a few years’ time.

“There is nothing quite like putting on your new kit for the first time. I hope it helps the kids achieve another successful sporting year."

Last year, the school football team came second in the Burnley schools’ football competition.

Andy Naylor, store manager at Oak Furniture Land in Burnley, said: “We’re delighted to provide the new kits for the Brunshaw Primary School.

“Our roots are firmly in Burnley as our managing director grew up in the area and is a devoted Burnley FC supporter, so it’s great to give something back to the local community.”

Managing director Jason Bannister said: “I am from Burnley and I’m very proud to play a part in supporting Brunshaw Primary School and the local community that I grew up in.

“I was very impressed with the sporting success of the school and wanted to assist them.”
