TECHNOLOGY students from Bacup and Stacksteads who visited The University of Manchester carried out experiments using cutting-edge technology and spent time with engineers.

Year 9 Fearns Community Sports College pupils who were considered as having the potential to progress to higher education took part in the day. Sara Ashworth, the school’s careers co-ordinator, said: “The school’s approach to providing careers support and activities is all about offering pupils the opportunity to think in new and different ways.

“They try out new experiences, meet new people and have the opportunity to go out of school to learn and have fun in different environments. All these experiences will help them learn about themselves and the world and make informed choices about their future.”
