PENDLE Council is once again pledging its support to help residents save money on their energy bills.

It follows the huge success of the People Power scheme last year, which saw over 10,000 people register across Lancashire, and 71 per cent of them save an average of £111 on their annual energy bill.

It involves groups of people using their collective bargaining power to persuade the energy suppliers to offer better deals. Coun Joe Cooney, Pendle Council’s leader, said: “This is a really exciting scheme and benefited hundreds of Pendle people the last time we did it.

“The energy companies offer better deals if they’re presented with a large number of people potentially willing to switch.

“So the more people we can get interested, the better bargaining power we have and the greater potential savings there will be.”
