Curtains and second-hand goods donated by a local factory have helped raise more than £2,700 for local children in need.

Darwen-based John Lewis company Herbert Parkinson are supporting Child Action Northwest as their charity of the year and donated a large supply of textiles to the organisation for their Christmas fundraising.

Chief executive Sue Cotton said: ‘We held a Christmas pop-in and curtain sale, tearoom, tombola, facepainting and children’s crafts. Staff also donated second-hand goods which we sold with the remainder of the curtains in a pop-up charity shop the following week.

“With such lovely curtains worth hundreds of pounds a pair, we were inundated with visitors who also took the opportunity to drop off Christmas presents at the old orphanage building. We are very grateful to the team at Herbert Parkinson for their generous donations which have helped us to raise much needed funds.”
