BRITAIN’S miners will be celebrated in a special ‘silent’ film to be screened at Padiham Town Hall.
The Miners’ Hymns, which focuses on the coalfields of Durham, will tour the UK this spring and will stop off in Padiham in conjunction with Mid-Pennine Arts.
Although the movie features no spoken words, it is played out to an original score by Icelandic composer Jóhann Jóhannsson.
Padiham town councillor Bob Clark, a former miner himself, will introduce the film before it is shown at 7.30pm on February 21.
He said: “It’s a subject very close to my heart.”
The film was directed by American artist Bill Morrison.
