A BICYCLING heroin supplier who was caught with a stash of wraps has been jailed for two years.

Street dealer Alexander McPake, 29, had cash and scales at his home, and drugs-related messages on his mobile phone, Burnley Crown Court heard.

He was said to be working under the command of bosses, and was getting free drugs for his services.

McPake had been spotted approaching a car in Heys Lane, Oswaldtwistle, but he and the occupants made off when they saw police.

McPake, of Kingfisher Court, Oswaldtwistle, had admitted possessing heroin with intent to supply, possessing amphetamine, and being concerned in the supply of heroin, between September 10 and October 2, last year.

Stephen Parker, prosecuting, said last September 10, police officers saw evidence of suspicious activity. They saw McPake approach a car with two people in it. As they all spotted the police, they made off. The area was searched and, about 20 minutes later, McPake was seen cycling in Heys Lane and was asked to stop.

He was asked if he had anything on him he shouldn’t, and said: “Yes, 10 wraps.”

Officers found nine £10 wraps on him. A search of his property revealed a small bag of amphetamine, and 248 snap seal bags.

Mr Parker said the defendant was released on bail after giving a prepared statement and, on October 1, his home was raided.

Police found £811.33 cash, a dealer’s list and a mobile phone, which contained a number of messages consistent with the defendant being involved in the supply of drugs.

The prosecutor said the phone messages included instructions from the people McPake was working for.

One response from him was: “Everyone’s sorted,” as he booked in with his bosses.

He was given orders to keep six bags of drugs for someone making their way over from Blackpool.

Mr Parker said McPake got a financial advantage from what he did as he was getting drugs free. He had not committed any drugs offences at all, but had the ‘record of a drug user’.
