A SCHOOL is hoping for volunteers to step forward after a governor’s position became free.

All parents at Barrowford Primary School will vote on who will fill a parent governor place on the board after James Haigh stepped down.

Headteacher Rachel Tomlinson praised Mr Haigh as someone who had been influential in his role.

She said: “We are very grateful for his time and effort. Governors have a significant role to play in the life of our school and I take this opportunity to thank all of our governing body for their hard work and commitment.

“Parents who wish to put themselves forward for election can contact the school for a nomination form”.

Parent governors are elected by the parents and serve a four-year term of office. They take part in three full governors meetings every year and three committee meetings. Nomination forms should be returned to the school by noon on Tuesday, January 21 and ballot papers will be sent home to parents on Friday, January 24.
