CHANGES to the bus service between Clitheroe and Slaidburn came into force yesterday.

Lancashire County Council decided in November to reduce the timetable to only run at off-peak times from Monday to Friday and reduce the funding by around £165,000.

The council had originally planned to only run the bus on Tuesdays and Saturdays. The new service is being operated by Transdev Burnley and Pendle.

Speaking after the decision, Ribble Valley MP Nigel Evans branded the move as a ‘slap in the face’.

He also pledged to continue to campaign further on the issue.
