EAST Lancashire actress Jane Horrocks is hoping to be absolutely fabulous when she takes part in a special Bake Off series.

The star, who was born in Rawtenstall, is one of 16 celebrities aiming to rise to the challenge of The Great Sport Relief Bake Off and will appear alongside Dancing On Ice judge Jason Gardiner, Desert Island Discs host Kirsty Young and Saturdays singer Rochelle Humes.

The TV actress said she was looking for a challenge and decided on baking as she was ‘not very good’ at sport.

Jane said: “I wish I was more of a sports person.

“I should really be doing a marathon, but I am not very good at that so baking is the next best thing.”

Olympians Victoria Pendleton and Greg Rutherford and Harry Potter actress Bonnie Wright, who played Ginny Weasley, will also be picking up their rolling pins and taking part in the baking tests.

Regular presenter Sue Perkins will be without her usual sidekick Mel Giedroyc, but will be joined by guest hosts Omid Djalili, Ed Byrne and Jo Brand.

The bakers will be faced with a tricky Eccles cake technical challenge and a pizza round.

They will also have to create a tiered cake in the shape of a piece of sporting equipment for one of their showstoppers.

The shows will be screened on four consecutive evenings from January 13 on BBC Two at 8pm.

The fundraising Sport Relief weekend takes place from March 21 to 23 with members of the public invited to run, swim or cycle in the Sainsbury's Sport Relief Games, with events at the former Olympic venue in east London.
