PENDLE MP Andrew Stephenson has praised East Lancashire’s paramedics after spending 13 hours shadowing an ambulance crew.
Mr Stephenson spent ‘Mad Friday’, December 20, on a shift based out of Nelson ambulance station with paramedics David Dixon and Deborah Webb.
The shift began at 7.45am and the ambulance was on the road all day, responding to 999 calls in Burnley, Pendle and one in Blackburn, as they were on the way back from having taken a patient to Royal Blackburn Hospital.
Mr Stephenson said: “In order to gain a deeper understanding of our public services I spend a lot of time getting out and observing them and then raising any issues with officials or Ministers.
“Sadly only the cases where things go wrong in our NHS get the headlines, the daily life changing actions of staff all too often are overlooked.
“It was a privilege to spend the day with such hard working and dedicated public servants and I was proud to be able to thank them personally for all that they do.”
