UPDATE: Woman held by knifeman in Burnley siege

Lancashire Telegraph: View from Hebrew Road View from Hebrew Road

A WOMAN is being held hostage by a man with a knife in Burnley.

Police received a call just after 4:30pm on Monday about the incident at an address on Escott Gardens in Burnley.

A cordon is in place and a negotiator remains at the scene speaking with a 20-year-old man on the phone.

Police have spoken with the woman concerned, who remains inside the property.

Police now believe there is a third person in the property - who is related to the man.

The situation is ongoing.

Last night, a small group of youths threw fireworks towards the police cordon. They were moved on without further incident.

The whole of Burnley should have ropes and red lamps round it. If the world had piles - that's where they'd be!
Weekly arson attacks, taxis not fit for purpose, clown stories being invented, drugs/drunks/bottle attacks - and that's just for starters!
