A 36-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested on suspicion of assault following a siege in Burnley.
Armed police, dog handlers and a fire crew were called to Lowerhouse Lane, at around 4pm yesterday (MON).
Police said a man had barricaded himself in the house.
It is understood his mother had been assaulted, although she was not seriously injured.
The street was cordoned off and officers made an unsuccessful attempt to gain entry to the property at around 9.20pm.
Shortly after, they forced entry through an upstairs window and made an arrest.
As he was led away, the man yelled 'this is a dream come true for me' and was put in the back of a police van.
The street was reopened at 10pm.
