ST Mary’s College students have been helping to spread festive cheer for various groups in Blackburn and beyond.

Students from the college’s health and social care department were given a talk by a volunteer from the foodbank in Blackburn and were so inspired by their work, they decided to start their own food collection in aid of Blackburn’s Women Centre.

Their efforts were matched by the rest of the college, with pupils delivering much-appreciated supplies just in time for Christmas.

But St Mary’s little elves weren’t done there.

Level 1 and 2 health and social care students sold raffle tickets to raise money for Maundy Relief in Accrington – with all of the proceeds going towards vital winter supplies over the Christmas period.

The Women’s Centre in Blackburn provides support and help for women in the area, with counselling, skills-development and information given to those in need.
