DETECTIVES investigating a rape in Colne from earlier in the year are re-appealing for information and have released an Evofit image of a man they are looking to speak to in connection with the offence.

The 35 year old local woman was raped on her way home from a night out in Colne on Saturday, 17th August.

The attack happened sometime between 9.40pm and 10.15pm at the rear of Exchange Street and Blascomy Way when the woman has encountered a lone man smoking a cigarette.

It is believed the man may have been disturbed during the attack when someone has been heard speaking further up the backstreet. Police are appealing for any witnesses to come forward as despite strenuous efforts from Lancashire Police this offender is still outstanding.

Detective Inspector Stephen Holgate of Lancashire Police said; “Although a number of months have passed since this offence took place we are still working hard to identify the person responsible.

“We believe someone has vital evidence that may assist in the identification of this man. If you were out in Colne that night and have information that you think might assist us or if you recognise the man in the image or the distinctive tattoo please contact the enquiry team on 01706 237352 or by calling 101 - Any information you have may be vital in assisting the police to apprehend this man.”
