ARMED police surrounded a pick-up truck and arrested the driver in Bacup earlier today.
Six police cars, including two unmarked vehicles and a riot van, blocked the silver vehicle in on Burnley Road at around 4.10pm.
Officers then pulled the driver out, a man described as in his 30s, lying him down on the pavement and handcuffing his arms behind his back.
One eyewitness, who was at the Bacup Hub across the road, said: “We were just preparing for tonight’s panto when we saw all the police arrive.
“They got the man out of the car and put him on the floor.
“Then they handcuffed him and put him in the back of a riot van.
“We heard an officer saying ‘stay calm’.
“They were there about 20 or 30 minutes.”
A spokeswoman for West Yorkshire Police said four people had been arrested and the incident involved two vehicles that travelled into Lancashire from the A681 to Todmorden.
