A NEW community arts project is turning heads at a library.
Artist Caroline Wright has produced photographs of residents that will be displayed this month.
The exhibition, entitled Significant Ties, is a display of 12 large photographs of the residents on the exterior walls of Coal Clough Library, in Coal Clough Lane, Burnley.
The team has also produced 17 photograph postcards of residents, which are available from the library.
Caroline said: “This is a really rewarding project celebrating the uniqueness, the individuality, the commonality of South West Burnley. We want to recognise the people living and working within the area.”
The photograph project is part of a larger arts movement, Ground Up, who also recently ran The Butterfly House project locally. Artist Kelly Loughlin, collected family photos and momentos from people who had grown up in South West Burnley, to create a piece of art dedicated to the community.
The project was recorded by film-maker Bryan Dixon, and this film was shown at Coal Clough Library on Monday.
Library worker Colin Schofield said: “Once, you went to a library for books, now there are all sorts of activities.”
