QUALIFIED staff will be on hand during the festive period to give young people in Lancashire advice and information on a range of issues.

The Line is run by Lancashire County Council and offers support and guidance to young people between the ages of 13 and 19, and up to the age of 25 for those with a disability.

Celebrating its 20th anniversary, The Line is open between 10am and 10pm every day.

It opened in 1993 as a local helpline to support youth workers and young people in Lancashire. Since then, it has grown to include email, text and webchat.

County Coun Matthew Tomlinson, cabinet member for children, young people and schools, said: “While most people have a great time over Christmas and New Year, there are, unfortunately, some members of the community who, for a variety of reasons, aren’t able to enjoy themselves.

“But the good news for young people who aren’t having a great time is that information, advice and support are readily, and easily, available.

“The Line’s advice workers are knowledgeable, and sympathetic.

“You name the issue, they’ve answered a question about it.”
