MEMBERS of a mental health charity based in Stacksteads have raised £1,750 for the Royal British Legion by selling Remembrance Day poppies they knitted themselves.
The group, who are members of Rossendale Rubicon, stitched hundreds of poppies out of wool for two months in the run-up to Sunday, November 10.
Gwen Lamb, chair of the Rossendale Rubicon, said: “I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who bought one of our knitted poppies.”
The designs included crocheted poppies for ladies and smaller poppies with buttons and were sold for £1 each. The team provided the wool and pins themselves.
Last year the group raised £600 and aimed to smash their record this year by raising more than £1,000.
The group is already looking ahead to next year and have requested donations of red wool and black buttons.
They will be starting in August in hopes of setting a new record.
