Noisy Nelson neighbour sent packing
A NELSON resident who kept neighbours awake all night with her loud parties has had 11 items removed from her home by Pendle Council’s noise nuisance officers.
Neighbours had complained to the council about the parties, which saw loud rock music played throughout the night, after the resident moved into a terrace house in Farrer Street in July.
One neighbour said parties would carry on for 18 hours over Friday and Saturday nights and that it was ‘impossible to sleep’.
The resident was served with a noise abatement notice but when this was ignored, council officers forced entry into the house and took items including a TV, DVD player and music systems. Neighbour Jack Scholes, 77, said: “It was horrendous. The music would start at around 8pm on a Friday night and carry on until 2pm on the Saturday, and then the same again on the Saturday night.
“It was absolutely manic. There would be plenty of visitors round in the evenings.
“It was loud rock music, but there was also a lot of shouting and swearing.
“These are only terrace houses and it was impossible to get any sleep. This went on for weeks on end but she has now left and there have been no problems since.”
The resident moved out of the property after the items were seized.
Coun John David, Pendle Council’s executive member for environmental health, said: “If people ignore our requests to stop being noisy, this is what will happen.
“My advice is, please use your electronic equipment responsibly. Don’t risk losing it.”
