A MAN is being hunted by police after a school girl was sexually assualted in Blackburn.

The 16-year-old girl was walking home alone from a friend’s house at around 5.30pm on Wednesday afternoon when the attack happened.

She was walking along Amberley Street when she heard a man jogging behind her.

The man ran up behind her, touched her inappropriately, and then carried on running.

Detective Sergeant Eric Halford from Lancashire Police said: “The victim was walking home through quite an industrial area of Blackburn when the man assaulted her.

“With her being in school uniform that aggrevates the offence.

“The victim was clearly a child. We have CCTV stills of the offender, who was wearing quite distinctive clothing.”

The man involved has been described as being aged in his late teens, around five feet five inches tall, and of skinny build.

He was wearing dark clothing, and his top had a large, light-coloured stripe across the middle.
