A MAN has been killed in a paragliding accident on Pendle Hill. Emergency services were called at shortly after midday today to Well Springs, Sabden, where the man had been paragliding with a friend.
Initial reports suggest the man fell about 30ft to the ground after the canopy of his glider collapsed. Police, paramedics, the air ambulance and mountain rescue teams attended and despite their best efforts the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
An investigation is ongoing to try to establish the precise cause of the accident and a post mortem examination will be carried out to establish the cause of death. The deceased is a 48 year old man from Lytham. His next of kin have been informed.
Any witnesses are asked to call Lancashire Police on the non-emergency number 101.
