PLANS to expand Ribble Valley Art Studios have been put on hold.
The Clitheroe-based studio, which was set up last year, wanted to rent out space above a shop nearby in Wellgate.
The move would have more than double the existing work space and provided room for up to 10 local artists.
The plans were shelved after they could not afford the business rates.
Proprietors Beverley Chapelhow and Keith Parkinson hoped to move into the new building last month.
The studio currently has eight artists working at the studio. Artists had been called on to register their interest in joining the studio if the expansion took place.
Beverley and Keith have not ruled out expanding in the future.
