BURNLEY fan and Lady Thatcher’s former press secretary Sir Bernard Ingham has come under fire for accusing Northerners who refuse to vote Tory of being bigoted and stupid.
The 81-year-old Yorkshireman made the claims in a newspaper column after a poll showed 40 per cent of Northern people would not even consider casting their ballot for a Conservative candidate.
His comments have angered Hyndburn Labour MP Graham Jones and Pendle LibDem peer Lord Greaves.
