Man admits abusing barmaid in Blackburn pub
10:20am Friday 18th October 2013 in News
A 34-YEAR-OLD man who abused a barmaid and assaulted a man who came to her assistance admitted that when he had been drinking he was not a ‘nice person’.
Blackburn magistrates heard Imran Zaman kicked off after he was refused service in the Blackburn Times on Northgate.
But since the incident he had left a card at the pub apologising to staff and customers who had been affected by his behaviour.
“He accepts that when he has been drinking he is not a very nice person,” said Jonathan Taylor, defending. “In the sober light of day he is ashamed of his behaviour.”
Zaman, of Moorgate Street, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to assaulting James Shackleton. He was remanded on bail for the preparation of a pre-sentence report. A condition of bail is that he doesn’t enter the Blackburn Times.
