Drug education events to be held in Hyndburn
1:32pm Wednesday 16th October 2013 in News
A SERIES of drug education events will be held in Hyndburn over the next four months.
For the next five weekends, the Made Safe project will feature early intervention, prevention and educational events in Accrington.
The aim of the project is to tackle rising concerns from local residents about drug use in the area.
The campaign will see a mixture of education, engagement and enforcement in a bid to help reduce drug related crime and anti-social behaviour.
Accrington Community Beat Manager, PC Leonna Hopkinson, said: “This project will be a great way for us to be involved with the community and to advise and support young people and adults about the dangers of drugs and the connection between drug taking as a cause of anti-social behaviour.”
The Made Safe team will be hitting the streets in the Scaitcliffe, Springhill and Central wards, speaking to the community about their concerns, to young people and parents about the dangers and consequences of using drugs.
