TWO businesses have tasted more success by scooping major accolades in the Manchester Food and Drink Festival awards.
Ramsons in Market Place, Ramsbottom, won the Truly Good Food title, while the Hearth of the Ram, in Peel Brow, was awarded Food Pub of the Year.
The winners were announced at a gala dinner at Manchester Town Hall. Ramsons has won numerous awards since it was opened nearly 30 years ago by Chris Johnson.
In 2011, it lifted the festival’s Restaurant of the Year title, while the business has been listed in the Waitrose Good Food Guide for the past 27 years.
Mr Johnson singled out chef and co-director Louise Varley for special praise for the quality of ingredients she uses.
He said: “We have had a fantastic couple of weeks. The Good Food Guide, Michelin Bib Gourmand and now best food pub in Greater Manchester.
“They are a testament to the hard work and dedication of our great team who all come from the local area.
“We are all passionate about what we do – fine local seasonal produce and great friendly service.”
