Christians meet up for big sing in Darwen
2:39pm Wednesday 9th October 2013 in News
CHRISTIANS in Darwen came together for a celebration at Highfield Church.
A congregation of more than 80 gathered for tea, cake and to sing. Hymns were chosen by members of the congregation who explained why their chosen hymn had a special meaning for them.
It was organised by Darwen Christians Together, the successor to the Darwen Churches’ Partnership.
Darwen’s Unity Choir were special guests and sang two songs from Roger Jones’s Pharaoh to Freedom, teaching the congregation new tunes to favourite hymns along the way.
Organiser Kathryn Hodkinson said: “This was the first event of its kind in Darwen that we have organised and it was wonderful to see so many there. At least 12 of the Darwen churches were represented.
“It was an opportunity for all Christians in Darwen to share their faith and hopefully sow the seeds of that faith within the community.”
