Burnley soup lunch to say thanks to volunteers

A SOUP lunch was organised for those taking part in a harvest fast.
The meal was put on at St John’s Church, in Ivy Street, Burnley, for the 50 volunteers gave donations to the Catholic Action for Overseas Development charity.
The communal table had an empty place set to represent the hungry around the world.
A poster of Mayling, a nine-year-old from Nicaragua, occupied the empty seat.
Youngsters from St John's Primary School and Blessed Trinity RC College attended the lunch along with some of their their teachers.
The rest of the guests were parishioners, friends as well as CAFOD volunteers.
