NATALIE Gumede has said she was ‘relieved’ she now has to wait only a few days before she sashays onto the Strictly dance floor.
The 29-year-old, who played villain Kirsty Soames in Coronation Street, told an internet TV site she was looking forward to stepping out with her partner Artem Chigvintsev.
She and the Latin dance specialist from Russia have been in intensive training since being introduced just over two weeks ago on the first live Strictly Come Dancing show of the new series.
The former Colne Park High School pupil said: “I’m just excited to get started and have a great sense of relief now that I know I’ve got a good partner.
“There weren’t any bad hands at all but it’s about who gels with who and I think Artem and I move well together which is great.
“I feel relaxed with him.”
Gumede also shared her excitement with fans on Twitter ahead of meeting her competitors later this week, as well as revealing the demands of her practice schedule.
She said: “Two days left in the safety of our rehearsal room but can't wait to see everyone on Thursday.
“Paying for lack of gym time over the years in sweat. Never has one minute 30 seconds hurt so much!”
The pair can rest assured they will make it through at least to next week as no couples will be leaving this weekend. But they will for the first time face the judges, who will critique and mark each pair when they perform on two shows being screened on Friday and Saturday nights.
Last week, the former soap star revealed she had been rehearsing so hard for Strictly she had holes in her socks, but was now practising in her new dance shoes .
