Parents’ bills pressure
2:00pm Monday 23rd September 2013 in News
NEW research suggests parents in the North West face bills of about £540 per year to pay for a single child’s school travel and food.
Nationwide Building Society said parents will spend a weekly average of £9 on each child per day on school lunch, and about £4.70 per week on a single child’s travel, including by car or public transport.
Richard Napier, Nationwide’s divisional director for savings and mortgages, said: “There is a never ending circle of school costs for parents.
“No sooner have they finished paying for the uniform, shoes, bags, stationery and other essentials necessary for the start of term, parents have to turn their attention to how their children are going to get to school and be fed.”
