Darwen children's charity appeals for new Santa suit
11:42am Wednesday 4th September 2013 in News
ORGANISERS of an event that sees disabled youngsters decorate a Christmas tree have appealed for help to buy a new Santa suit.
Every year, disabled children from across the borough decorate the Christmas tree in Darwen market, watched by Santa Claus.
But Stephen Potter, who played Santa last year, said: “The suit has got a bit old and is starting to get a bit tatty.
“It would be great if a local business in the town would come forward to help us out in getting a new one.”
The event, the 10th of its kind, will be held on Saturday, November 23.
Local dignitaries, including the mayor and on some occasions the local MP, also go along and support the event.
Organisers this year have said a new Santa suit is needed for the event, and have appealed for local businesses to come forward.
