Community services Stan van helps more people in Ribble Valley
4:52pm Tuesday 3rd September 2013 in News
A COMMUNITY services van is helping a total of 18 people a month and expected to rise by next year.
Ribble Valley Borough Council recently reviewed the popularity of the STAN service, a mobile resource van unit. The van is used to serve the Ribble Valley five days a week offering advice from the borough and county council services.
A report said: “The average footfall is relatively low but numbers of visits have increased. The introduction of return visits to the more popular locatins and attending special events are increasing footfall. However it is clear that it is well received by many residents.”
The council has decided to continue funding the service for another year until September 2014 after successful case studies.
Some users of the van have doubled their disability living allowance after seeking help with living costs. A new itinerary will see the van visit Clitheroe, Whalley and Longridge every three weeks with other areas receving visits from every six weeks to every six months.
