Health watchdog says East Lancashire Hospitals need to restore 'trust'
10:48am Tuesday 3rd September 2013 in News
HEALTH watchdog Sir Bill Taylor said the Royal Blackburn and Burnley General hospitals must work hard to restore the ‘trust and respect’ of the public.
Blackburn with Darwen Healthwatch held its first meeting last month, with members grilling Rineke Schram, medical director at East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust, on its improvement plans.
Sir Bill, the chairman, paid tribute to the dedicated hard work of ‘nearly every’ staff member at the hospitals, but said they had been let down by poor communication and a lack of care in some cases.
He said he would expect to see improvements made in the coming months.
