Proms are key to Chatburn church funds
5:23pm Wednesday 28th August 2013 in News
THE Last Night of the Chatburn Proms is set to take place on Friday, September 13, and will aim to raise money for Christ Church’s Development Fund.
The event, in its third year, will include performances from the Besses O’ Th’ Barn Brass Band and teenage singer Grace O’Malley alongside other national and regional artists who will perform at locations around the village.
Christ Church, which was built in 1838, is a Phase II listed building, and £50,000 is needed for refurbishment work which includes upgrading the kitchen and toilet.
Organiser Clive Greenwood said: “The music events have been one of the key sources of fund raising. We are grateful to the businesses that have taken advantage of the sponsorship packages and gained the benefit from the association with the successful concerts by quality artists and this local heritage project.”
