Whalley wine shop owner treks around Scotland dressed as Yoda in aid of air ambulance charity

A wine shop owner and his best friend have completed a 96-mile trek in Scotland in aid of the North West Air Ambulance dress as Star Wars characters Yoda and Darth Vader.
Tom Jones, 28, who has run the Whalley Wine Shop since 2011, undertook the walk along The West Highland Way with his friend Adam Evans, who is based in London, and have so far raised £1,100.
Tom, who was dressed as Yoda for the six-day walk, attended Clitheroe Royal Grammar School with Adam and the pair completed the 84-mile walk across Hadrian’s Wall last year.
Tom, who lives in Clayton-le-Moors, said: “I hadn’t even seen the films until a week before we left for Scotland so I had to do some quick research on the character.
“They were a bit dated but the whole idea came from a discussion about the most ridiculous costume to wear while tramping through Scotland.
“We have always collected for the North West Air Ambulance in the shop and it seemed right that we would raise money for them with this challenge.
“We got a few funny looks along the way but most people were very happy to donate and pose for pictures with us.”
Tom and Adam are still accepting donations and they can be given via www.justgiving.com/westhighlandwayyoda or by texting yoda96 and then the amount to 70070.
