Praise for Blackburn with Darwen children's services
12:53pm Friday 23rd August 2013 in News
BLACKBURN with Darwen Council’s Children’s Services has been named as one of 20 ‘Pioneering Places’ by the Early Intervention Foundation (EIF).
Its work with children, young people and their families was praised for focusing on prevention and early intervention in order to break the cycle of deprivation.
The EIF announced 20 Early Intervention “Pioneering places” across the country, which will allow them to learn what works best, and encourage a link-up service, where different areas can learn from each other.
Coun Frank Connor, executive member for children’s services, said: “We are working hard to offer real and lasting change for these families and the communities around them.
“Ultimately it’s about making a real difference to the lives of children and their families, helping our most vulnerable children and their families, and it’s important to remember that.”
