Councillor calls for vigilance after anti-social behaviour in Ramsbottom
4:11pm Thursday 22nd August 2013 in News
A COUNCILLOR has called on town centre users to be vigilant after repeated reports of anti-social behaviour at a Ramsbottom landmark.
Coun Ian Bevan has met with neighbourhood police over groups, and individuals, congregating to drink, and cause a nuisance, in the gardens outside St Paul’s Church.
He said: “I have liaised with GMP officers and will meet with them again on this. They assure me that, while on patrol, they have moved on several people on various occasions.
“They tell me they do give this area priority as they are aware that, especially during the summer holidays, there are more families entering the gardens area, and how intimidating this must be.
“Unfortunately, there will be times when officers are not on patrol when this is occurring, and the only thing residents can do is call 101 to alert them.”
Council community safety officers are also to pay extra attention to the gardens, and people noticing problems are urged to contact 0161 253 6606.
