Burnley student returns from Czech football freestyling tournament

A BURNLEY student has returned from a global football freestyling competition in the Czech Republic.
Trickster Chris Draper, 21, failed to make the final of the Superball tournament at SK Slavia Prague’s training complex but described the experience as a ‘great learning curve.
The Clarets-mad University of Central Lancashire student has worked with clubs including Chelsea, Liverpool and Celtic since taking up freestyling two years ago.
He said: “I was drawn in a group against guys who have been doing this for seven or eight years.
“Freestyling is a bit different to traditional football rivalries. It’s competitive when you’re performing but as soon as you come off you just want the best guy to win.
“I performed as well as I could have done. I only had 90 seconds to impress the judges and people were saying I was in possibly the toughest group.
“I landed four or five tricks that I’d never done in front of people before but the standard at that level really was an eye-opener.”
The former St Mary Magdalene’s RC Primary School, Blessed Trinity RC College and Burnley College student recently shot a promotional video for Real Madrid’s UK soccer schools.
