Metal grilles stolen from public land in Pendle
2:07pm Wednesday 21st August 2013 in News
GOOD-QUALITY metal grilles, worth £400, were stolen from public land in Pendle.
The seven grills ,which were in Keighley Road, Laneshaw Bridge, were taken between Friday and Monday.
Sgt Shaun Pearson, of Pendle Police, said: “We get people coming from North Yorkshire and stealing, and people from our own area.
“It’s a shame they have gone because they are part of an industrial area like Pendle’s heritage. It’s a shame to have to replace them with surfacing, which the county council sometimes has to do, so they won’t get stolen again.
“When these incidents happen, we go round scrap yards and check what they’ve got. It’s helpful if councils and individuals use Smartwater and selective DNA technology to mark them, so they can be traced.”
