Great fun on Darwen gala day
1:21pm Monday 19th August 2013 in News
CHEERLEADERS, Morris dancers and a pipe band ensured this year’s Darwen Gala was a great success.
The 48th annual event saw Accrington Pipe Band, Cheer Valley Cheerleaders and the Cuerden Birds of Prey entertain the crowds on Saturday.
There were also the usual array of stalls with local businesses and charities involved, including Darwen Days and the Friends of Darwen Cemetery.
The gala was preceded by the annual gala parade from Anchor Road to the gala field at the top of Belgrave Road and Borough Road.
John Sturgess, chairman of the Darwen Gala committee, said: “The gala is very much part of the social calendar in Darwen.”
