Video: Two injured in Haslingden bus smash
11:37am Monday 19th August 2013 in News
TWO passengers were injured when a bus, carrying about 12 passengers, smashed into a tree in Haslingden.
The bus, the 484 service from Accrington, was travelling on Broadway at 11.10am on Saturday, when it uprooted the large sycamore which fell on a car in a driveway.
It is believed a steering problem caused the driver to lose control of the bus, operated by Rossendalebus. It came to a halt on the tree stump with only three wheels on the ground.
A 74-year-old man suffered facial injuries and was airlifted to Royal Preston Hospital by air ambulance, which landed in Haslingden High School fields. A woman in her 40s suffered a broken nose and was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital.
The bus driver was uninjured, but said to be ‘very shaken’.
