Man stole glasses during two-week crime spree in Nelson

A MAN is facing sentence for a two-week crime spree in Nelson.
Nikki Anderton, 35, went burgling and shoplifting between July 21 and August 3 and on one occasion, was armed with a knife.
Burnley magistrates heard that on July 21, he stole seven cans of lager, worth £18.50 from Spar. The day after, he stole £8.50 of lager from the same shop.
On July 26, he entered as a trespasser at Clarks Ironmongers, with intent to steal. On August 3, he went into the Spectacle Factory Shop Ltd, on Scotland Road and took glasses and cases totalling £1,000. On the same day, at the junction of Scotland Road and Pendle Street, he was carrying a knife.
The defendant, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to burglary and theft, possessing a blade in a public place and three counts of theft. He also admitted a further offence while subject to a 12-month conditional discharge, imposed on July 5, for two theft charges.
He was remanded in custody until August 29 for a pre-sentence report.
