Bike doctors help to repair Great Harwood residents' bikes
1:44pm Thursday 15th August 2013 in News
A GANG of ‘bike doctors’ rolled onto Game Street car park, in Great Harwood, to help repair residents’ bikes.
People aged from three to 66 turned up with their bikes, and were offered repairs, lessons, and security marking.
Barbara Sharples, chairman of Great Harwood Prospects Panel, which organised the event, said: “The day was a huge success.
“We were overwhelmed by the number of people who turned up, so we will probably have to organise another session soon.”
More than 60 bikes were security marked by the neighbourhood police team, and basic bike health checks were given by Damian Bonsall, from national cycling charity, CTC.
And Kirsti and Matt, from training provider Go Velo, examined brakes, steering, wheels, cranks, gears and frames.
Barbara said: “Along with the bike checks and repairs, people signed up for a bike maintenance course, cycle lessons, and the bike ride leader course.”
Damian added: “This was a fantastic event, with an incredible number of people turning up to have their bikes checked.”
