Off-road trips to Darwen Tower to take place on gala day
1:29pm Thursday 15th August 2013 in News
LAND Rover trips to Darwen Tower will go ahead as usual at Saturday’s Darwen Gala, despite fears they could be scrapped over insurance changes.
Red Rose Land Rover Club has confirmed it will once again offer the drives to the landmark on the moors above the town.
The trips are just one of many attractions on Saturday, the 48th annual gala in the town, which starts at 1.45pm on the playing field between Belgrave Road and Borough Road.
The gala committee has also appealed for new people to get involved and help organise future events.
Chairman John Sturgess said: “There is a small team doing a sterling job at the moment but ill health and other commitments mean they are getting stretched.
“Perhaps somebody who might like to get involved in one specific aspect, such as the the parade or marketing and booking acts would be interested.”
Anyone interested can call Mr Sturgess on 07802 247639.
