A LANCASHIRE service offering a family home and support to people who need care has been nationally recognised.
Shared Lives, run by the county council, was a finalist at this year's Municipal Journal's Achievement Awards.
It gives older people and those with disabilities the chance to share in family and community life, usually living in the carer's home. The service was one of six finalists out of 41 entries in the Innovations in Social Care category.
County council cabinet member for adult services Tony Martin said: “The Shared Lives team has worked tremendously hard and thoroughly deserves this national recognition”
