£1.4m to be spent on East Lancashire school overhauls

REPAIRS to East Lancashire schools totalling more than £1.41million are set to take place during the current financial year.
The major beneficiary will be Hollins Technology College, Accrington, which will see tile cladding replaced and roof overhauled on the Lowry block, costing £267,000.
Another £225,000 apiece is estimated for replacing heating pipes at Rhyddings Business and Enterprise School, Oswaldtwistle, and Colne Primet Primary. Similar work at Longridge’s Barnacre Road Primary will cost £45,000.
Padiham Green CE Primary’s reslated roof will cost £121,500 and boilers will be replaced and asbestos removed at Huncoat Primary for £69,000.
Dry rot will be tackled at Oswaldtwistle School at a cost of £36,000.
