MORE than 1,500 music lovers were serenaded by classical masterpieces as the Last Night of the Proms took over the grounds of Clitheroe Castle.
Clitheroe Town Band joined forces with members of Clitheroe’s Pop Choir to put on the free event which treated residents and visitors from across the region to a varied selection of classical Proms pieces.
Meanwhile crowds donned union flags and even Mexican fancy dress in celebration to mark the end of a jam-packed weekend of culture in the town.
Primrose ward councillor Mary Robinson who attended the event said: “It was an absolutely magnificent turnout.”
